Becoming a GSC Has Changed My Life

by Tara Hess
I am a former elementary school teacher with a background in child development. Now I am a busy stay at home mom of two girls, 4.5 years old and 23 months old. My journey to become a Gentle Sleep Coach may be similar to many others in that my first daughter was a horrible sleeper! I worked with Kim and used the Sleep Lady Shuffle with success! My life was transformed.

There is nothing like a well-rested family! And I never thought I would be thankful for that exhausting and frustrating time in my life, but I believe everything happens for a reason, and my daughter being a horrible sleeper is what ultimately led me to get certified as a Gentle Sleep Coach!

When Kim first announced that she was starting a certification program to train others to be sleep coaches, I was excited about the idea of helping others but then I began to worry… “Can I be a sleep coach? Will I be able to help other tired parents? Will I be able to make my financial investment back? How will I get clients?”

Kim’s training prepared me for all of this and more!

Knowing that she is available for mentorship to talk about the families I am working with has been invaluable. During the training, we created a business checklist that I lived by. I knew how to set up a business by the end of the basic training…she walked us through it and continues to be there for us every step of the way.

The first four families I worked with went really well which not only helped build my credibility, but also gave me a lot of confidence that I really did learn what I needed to know to be a successful sleep coach. Some of them even sent me gifts, including several months of personal training. Most of all, they told their friends who told their friends. Word of mouth referrals are the best

I have also worked hard on marketing my business which has brought additional business and sleep success to families. I wrote to all my local doctors telling them about my practice and how I can be a resource to the families in their practice. I mailed them all my cards and even dropped some off at baby stores. I contacted the local hospital and held a successful talk that got previewed by nurses. I was nervous at first but once I started talking it all flowed and I realized how much I now knew about sleep. And more importantly, I got great reviews!

I was not looking to replace an income but to start a side business to bring in extra spending money without taking me away from my family too much. I only wanted to work about 10-15 hours a week.

Now I have the perfect balance:
I work 10-15 hours a week and average $1- $2,000 a month.
I now have a steady flow of clients!

Being a Gentle Sleep Coach has given my life a whole new direction and the money sure is nice. I love helping others and it is so rewarding
to receive emails and letters saying “Thank you for changing my life, I am going to tell all my friends about you!”.

I am so excited about being a Gentle Sleep Coach and helping tired parents that I just want to tell everyone! Becoming a Gentle Sleep Coach is one of the best decisions I have made.
